Problems Surface When Entitled Roommate Thinks Her Roommate Buying Their Rental Unit Is Her Free Ride
If you've ever had any type of roommate then chances are that you've had some sort of issue before. It doesn't matter who it is or what's going on, usually having a roommate of any kind can complicate the situation.
Sometimes it's best to just not have a roommate and figure out another way because it seems that a lot of people have problems with their roommates or their agreement. That's what we wanted to talk about today when shedding light on this story a girl submitted on Reddit.
On the Reddit thread, AITA a woman submitted a story that goes into details about her and her roommate's history, agreement, and what happened in order for her to be able to "evict" her roommate, which you can imagine caused many problems. Stories like these help to show others what can happen and get advice on what to do.
Reddit came in clutch with so many responses to her validating her choice and telling her how to handle the situation going further. It's always awesome to get other people's perspectives when it comes to any sort of situation.

It's definitely crazy of her to think she'd stay there rent-free.
She definitely needs to have a more in depth conversation with her roommate.
I don't know why anyone would assume they'd live for free.
Technically the landlord should be the one notifying her of any changes to the lease or agreement.
Yeah I'd have to agree because at the very least she should assume she can pay to stay there still.

I don't really get why she assumed she at least wouldn't need to pay rent.
She shouldn't feel obligated to share her condo with anyone especially someone not willing to pay rent.
It definitely should have been a conversation that explained everything going on.
Simply put, it is her condo. Which means she has the right to decide everything that has to do with it.
OP isn't in the wrong but a conversation should have been had about the change in arrangements.
Yes, that's true that this comes with renting.

She should understand that she would've had to leave either way.
This scenario definitely sucks but it seems to be agreed that OP isn't the AH In this situation don't though she could've handled things differently, she isn't in the wrong. If you've ever had a roommate then you know how complicated things can get.
