OP had been living away from his parents all this while with his two daughters from his late wife, his current wife Becky and his stepson. When OP arrived, his parents got to meet their new step-grandson for the first time. He was a disinterested 12-year-old and the reunion was lukewarm at best.

The story in detail
OP lived away from his parents and married Becky (who has a son) after his wife passed away leaving him with two kids (daughters).
Due to a new job, OP moved his family back home which allowed his parents to meet his stepson. Becky noticed his parents favored his kids more and gave them more gifts as compared to her son.
OP invited his parents to his stepson’s birthday party, however, his mom arrived first bringing a card. This made Becky furious and she called her MIL hurtful names.
OP’s mum informed Becky that her husband was getting a gift for her son, however, due to the insult, it wouldn't happen again. In an argument between OP and Becky, she insisted he cut off contact between himself, his daughters, and his mom.
