Teen Left Needing 40 Stitches After Her German Shepherd Bites Her Face During Cute Photoshoot

Dogs are man's best friend, there's no doubt about that. But at the end of the day, they are still animals, and it's important to always keep that in mind, as the teen in this story found out in no uncertain terms.

Seventeen-year-old, Lara Sanson from Tucumán, Argentina was trying to get a nice photo with her beautiful German Shepherd, Kenai when things suddenly went terribly awry.

Seemingly out of nowhere, Kenai bit Lara's face! The incredible photo shows the exact moment in time as Kenai's teeth pierced Lara's skin.

"I do not know if I touched its hip or if it reacted like this because it is old, or it was because I hugged it and scared it," Lara said.

Lara had to undergo a two-hour operation as a result of the bite. She needed 40 stitches on her face and inside her mouth due to the severe injuries to her gum. She is still suffering inflammation but is thankfully expected to make a full recovery.

Lara says there is no way she would ever have Kenai put down because the attack was not intentional. A local vet also said that Kenai may have attacked Lara due to his age saying, "Its pains are growing and pain could have generated this reaction."

Lara posted the series of photos, capturing the event, to Twitter on January 14th, and they were quick to go viral racking up over 72,000 retweets and more than 346,000 likes.

Lara also posted a shot of the other side of her face, showing the damage done by Kenai's lower jaw. "I didn’t save myself from the other side either," she Tweeted.

Feel better, Lara!
