Grandma Wanted To Finally Have A Life Of Her Own, So She "Retired" From Babysitting Her Grandchildren
Boundaries can be extremely hard to set when it comes to helping family members. After-all, they're your family, right?
But, the truth is, boundaries are very important. Without them, we may find ourselves physically and emotionally exhausted.
One young grandmother was faced with this dilemma when she decided to turn to the AITA community on Reddit for help. For those unfamiliar with the group, AITA stands for "Am I The A**hole?"
The young woman had raised her own children, and then helped bring up her daughter's son. She had been selfless her entire life, and decided it was time to start living for herself.
So, the grandmother decided to "retire" from taking care of her grandkids and move away. Her daughter, however, was not impressed with the idea one bit!
The dilemma lies in the fact that the grandmother believes she has done more than her fair share over the course of her life, and deserves some time to herself. However, the daughter believes she is entitled to her mother's help forever, unconditionally.
Of course, the AITA community sided with the grandmother and her right to live her own life. Scroll down to read her story in full.
