Redditor Procrastinates Opening A Gift For 5 Years, Only To Be Disappointed When They Finally Opened It

One great initiative for giving and receiving presents is the whole gift exchange arrangement, especially when the person that's supposed to give you something knows the kind of thing you would truly like to receive. The same goes for the other side, it is always exciting to look and shop for gifts that you know they would love.
There are certain instances that we do prolong opening a gift, may it be because we are just waiting for the right time to appreciate it or simply because we want to preserve it up until we actually need it. For some, this proves to be a "life hack", but for a certain person, their decision came with bad luck.
The person in question is a Redditor with the handle u/mewtwo_thanks who posted in the r/TIFU subreddit about procrastinating opening a gift for 5 years, only to find it empty. It was supposed to be an Audrey Hepburn poster that they kept in the canister so that they would only open it when they finally have a frame to display it with.
Check out the story and the reactions that followed below!
The Redditor moved 15 times for the past 5 years, moving the canister along with him but never opened it.
Unfortunately, he lost touch with the person that gave the gift to them. However, there's still no going back since 5 years have already passed for them to contact Amazon's customer service.
All's well that ends well though, because they just gave the canister to their dog as a toy.
