Young Woman’s Post About The Hard Reality Of Being A Stay-At-Home Mom Went Viral
Admitting to our own mistakes takes a lot of courage, and it makes us better people in every way. Bridgette Anne Armstrong, a young woman from Minnesota, is doing just that, admitting she was wrong in judging stay-at-home parents. Of course, she realized she was wrong when she became a parent herself. One and a half years ago, she brought Riley to the world, and she is taking care of him as a full-time stay-at-home-mom.

She posted a sincere story of her everyday life and the challenges she faces, and her words touched many people online. The post now has over 31k reactions and 85k shares.
Bridgette thinks that people are so critical when it comes to stay-at-home parents for the reason that it has no financial benefit. “Therefore, people don’t see it as ‘work,'” she says. “There is such a stigma surrounding it, you know, that we just sit at home all day and put our kids in front of the TV and play around on our phones and that it’s not really hard work, but I don’t think people realize the isolation and loneliness that can come when the only human interaction you have is with a child for the majority of your time. It’s emotionally draining at times.”
However, the mom has found a way not to let these feelings take over. When she gets overwhelmed in this “stay-at-home-mom phase,” Bridgette tells herself that it’s momentary. “This is just a phase and it won’t last forever and surprisingly enough, I know there will come a time when I’ll miss this.”
“If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this experience, it’s that I am definitely not alone in feeling this way, however, I have come to see most people stay silent about these feelings in fear of what others will say,” Bridgette says. “I’m hoping this will start a conversation about the stigma that surrounds stay-at-home parents and just maybe allow others who do feel like this to feel like it’s OK to talk about it.”
