I don't know about you, but I have always felt like somewhat of an old soul. I love old movies and music, antique furniture, and all things vintage.
I have always felt that I was born into the wrong century and would love to have existed a hundred years ago. I watched Anne of Green Gables and wished I could live in Avonlea, wearing corsets and long dresses every day.
But, alas, it isn't possible to go back in time. Or is it?
Well, for this young couple, it is! Ruth Shelley and Robert Oestmann decided to change things up and live their lives 1930s-style, and it's every bit as wholesome as you'd imagine.
The engaged couple is passionate about the Depression era and has discovered many benefits to living a retro lifestyle. And they're not the only ones - the pair has gained many admirers along the way.
So, what made them want to live their lives this way? "My mother used to collect a lot of antiques, so I think an appreciation for them came from her," Robb said.
"I also love old movies and would watch them with my grandmother. These days, I visit museums and heritage railways to learn about history."
Robb says his retro-style feels natural to him. "I find it feels right when in historical clothes," he said.
"I was a tomboy, or mostly, until I was 16," Ruth said. "I thought I just wasn't really into clothes or makeup, and that was totally fine."
How do you feel about Ruth and Robb's retro lifestyle? Would you ever consider switching up your life in such a way?
The couple updates their followers frequently on their latest adventures and vintage fashion. So cool!
I'm in love with this couple and their style, and I'm on my way to follow them both right now! It's so refreshing to see people living their passions, especially at this difficult time.
Don't ever change, Ruth and Robb! We can't wait to see what your vintage wedding will look like!
