Husband Cancels Christmas Holiday Because His Entitled Stepchildren And Wife Didn't Want To Help Him During Family Emergency, And They Ask Reddit Why Is He Angry
One Reddit user, SquarePoint4234, took to the AITA subreddit to narrate the issue she's currently having with her husband.
In the post, SquarePoint4234 revealed that she and her husband have been married for 4 years, they have a 3-year-old son together, and she has two kids aged 17 and 19 from her ex-husband.
One day, her husband needed someone to watch their son because he had to rush to the hospital because his dad had a medical emergency. When he asked her older son to watch the boy, he refused because he was going out with friends.
Her daughter also refused and locked herself in her room to study. SquarePoint4234, on the other hand, was also unavailable as she was at a restaurant with her brother to meet his girlfriend for the first time.
Left with no choice, SquarePoint4234's husband took their son to the hospital, and his mom watched him while there. When her husband came home from the hospital, he lashed out at everyone, saying they were selfish.
SquarePoint4234 said she tried to explain to her husband that her kids were genuinely busy and couldn't have watched the boy, but he got angrier, saying her older son could have skipped the hangout while her daughter could have watched the boy while studying.
Due to the incident, her husband canceled their family holiday trip for Christmas. According to SquarePoint4234, her kids were upset and felt his action was unfair.
She also said she told her husband that he was being unreasonable. However, her husband wouldn't budge.
Instead, he said he'd rather spend Christmas with his parents because he needs to be near his dad anyway. SquarePoint4234's children have decided they would go to their dad instead.
The whole family is essentially not on good talking terms at the moment. Here's what the AITA community had to say on the subject.
Here's how it started.

Then he talked about cancelling the Christmas trip.

No one's happy now, but here's what Reddit thinks.

1. It's as if she has forgotten that thy 3-year-old is also her son.

2. Family emergency demands you drop everything to help.

3. Her husband just learned about the selfish nature of her kids.

4. They should accept the consequence of their actions.

5. Any of them could have helped because they weren't doing something they couldn't postpone.

6. Things would have been different if it weren't an emergency.

7. She has succeeded in raising two kids who are as selfish as her.

8. Medical emergency is more important than everything they were busy doing.

9. She and her kids are self-centered.

10. They are entitled sociopaths and don't deserve the vacation.

11. She's an awful mother who raised awful children.

12. She needs to rethink her priorities.

13. Family is supposed to support each other, especially in an emergency.

14. Meeting her brother's girlfriend is not as important as a medical emergency.

15. Their family is a mismatch.

16. There's a likelihood that their family will break up soon.

17. Even if her kids had valid reasons not to watch the boy, she shouldn't have any because she's his mother.

18. She has shown what her priorities are.

19. Her husband has valid reasons to cancel the trip.

20. Her husband shouldn't help them if they can't help him in an emergency.

What Do You Think?
While every person is born into a family, not every family is healthy. One of the most crucial aspects of creating strong family ties is feeling supported by your family.
When families feel supported, getting through hard times becomes much easier. Strong families support their family members everywhere possible, including when life springs its surprises.
