Redditor And Her Colleagues Get "Written Up" For Allowing Kids To Watch Mike Myers Version Of "Cat In The Hat" At School

by Stephanie

It's not unusual for a kids' movie to include a few quips aimed at the adults in the audience. After all, it's the grown-ups who bring the kiddos to the cinema, so they should get to enjoy the film too.

But, over the years, there have been a few movies that have gone a little too far with the adult content. And Mike Myers' version of The Cat In The Hat is undeniably one of them.

Reddit user u/okaythanwhy recently shared a story in the r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit about how the Dr. Seuss adaptation got her and her colleagues in trouble at work. She explained that she used to work for a Head Start program, and it was Dr. Seuss week at school, so the teachers wanted to put the movie on for the kids.

The OP warned the teachers about the adult jokes in the movie, but they insisted it was a harmless kids' film. So, the OP put the movie on and made sure the subtitles were on so that the teachers and parents in the room would be able to read it even if they couldn't hear it.

Well, the parents weren't impressed, so they took their kids straight to the director's office to complain. All the staff, including the OP, were written up for it.

The Redditor tried to fight it, but she was told she should have alerted the director on the matter. Now, the OP says this is one of her favorite stories to tell.
