Artist Demands $3,400 From Her Sister For A Painting Her 9-Year-Old Nephew Ruined
People who have children will undoubtedly have numerous anecdotes about how their children surprise them on a daily basis. And not all of the stories are lighthearted and entertaining.
Kids are known to get into a lot of mischiefs, and it's up to the parents to clean up the mess. At least, that's what the parents are expected to do.
And, in a perfect world, it would be so. But some parents fail to see that their kids are their responsibility.
Let's be honest, those are the same people whose kids you see screaming in the supermarket or bullying other kids on the playground. They didn't devote much time to properly raising and educating their kids, and they believe that the whole world should conform to their wishes and demands.
And unfortunately, no one and nothing can convince them that they are wrong. A Redditor going by the name u/CattFen shared her experience.
This Reddit member had a painting meant for a customer damaged by her nephew. So she asked the boy's mother, who is her sister, to pay £2,500 (about $3,400) in damages; however, the sister did not recognize her son's fault in the incident.
So, she asks, "AITA for charging my sister £2500 for one of my paintings after her kid ruined it?"
An artist asks her sister to pay £2,500 (about $3,400) for a picture that her child destroyed after she explicitly ordered everyone not to enter her art studio.

The artist had invited her family to a New Year's Eve celebration, which was intended to be an adults-only affair.

OP had an art studio in her home, and she warned her visitors that no one was permitted to enter.

But someone didn't listen...

The kid actually thought it was funny that he had ruined someone else's work

So OP sent her sister a bill

The family is divided.

OP admits to not enjoying kids very much, but she tries...

Redditors agree:

The sister did just about everything wrong

The kid was a guest and he disobeyed the house rules

Nine is old enough to understand some things...

This is a lot of money...

People close to artists understand OP completely

Intentionally destroying is not normal at that age.

Bringing your kid to an all-adult party implies you would watch it...

You break it - you buy it

Poor decisions in sequence...

One Redditor shared their experience...

A family discount... that's a good one!

OP is a serious artist who has an art studio in her home with a notice on the door prohibiting admittance. She also made a verbal announcement that no one was to enter the room.
However, the OP set up her boyfriend's PS4 to keep Ethan entertained, knowing that youngsters get bored easily and like to break the rules. So, OP did everything right.
But, unfortunately, some people didn't. And people like that never see their fault, even when faced with reasonable arguments.
The consensus is that OP is right, and we couldn't agree more.
