16 Pictures Of A Black Cosplayer Displaying Her Skills With A Creative Array Of Costumes
There are numerous ways to celebrate Black History Month. And some cosplayers are celebrating by using the hashtag #28DaysofBlackCosplay.
The hashtag was initially made in 2015 by someone who is a cosplayer named Chaka Cumberbatch. Chaka did this with the sole objective of breaking down racism and promoting inclusion in the community of cosplayers.
"It began as a way for us as black cosplayers to celebrate and showcase our own work in the midst of a subculture where we often felt passed over and ignored," she said. Among all the cosplayers participating in the Black Cosplay Challenge, we see Kiera Please, who is a 21-year-old cosplayer also taking part and generally shaking up the cosplay world.
The cosplayer is a native of Virginia, and she changes herself into a heap of characters that range from kid’s cartoons to books to animated movies. Some of her looks are elaborate, with fur pieces of clothing and full bodysuits to match the persona she’s replicating.
Characters like Sadness, from the Pixar movie titled Inside Out, are achieved with intensive make-up. It also shows an applied layer of blue face paint along with a matching bright wig.
