OP boarded a flight, only to find the gate agent telling them it was not even half full. With only 75 people on board, OP was sitting in the middle seat when a man (50ish) walked on and stated, "I'll sit next to you," without even asking.

Not wanting to be stuck with a stranger, OP lied and said their "husband" would sit there. The man then asked where the "husband" was, which OP ignored.

The man then asked if they should have the flight attendants hold the flight for the "husband," with literal air quotes, and OP still didn't respond. He then called OP a liar and said they were probably a Democrat, which is when OP finally spoke up and said, "Can you shut the truck up like who cares? I don't owe you anything."

When the man continued to call OP a liar, OP said, "my husband is actually deployed in the middle east, so you can mind your own business" (which was true). At this point, a flight attendant came over and asked what was happening, and the man talked over OP.

Another flight attendant then said that one of them had to move or they would both be off the flight. OP grabbed their bag and moved.
