UK's First Tesla Cybertruck Owner Faces A Major Roadblock — He May Never Drive It
Electric cars are becoming increasingly popular, and the Tesla Cybertruck is one of the most talked-about models. With its unique design and advanced features, it has captured the attention of many car enthusiasts.
However, importing a car that is unavailable in your country can be challenging. This is especially true when the vehicle doesn’t meet local safety and road regulations.
Yianni Charalambous, a well-known YouTuber and car enthusiast, faces this problem with his newly acquired Tesla Cybertruck. Despite his car experience, he’s encountered several issues trying to get the Cybertruck ready to drive in the UK.
Yianni Charalambous is the creator of the YouTube channel Yiannimize, which has over 2.19 million subscribers. He’s famous for custom car wraps, testing out cool cars, and helping celebrities with their vehicles.
Recently, he made headlines by purchasing the first Tesla Cybertruck to ever be in the UK. He bought it from its previous owner in California and planned to ship it back to England. However, things didn’t go as smoothly as he had hoped.
His first problem came when he couldn’t ship the Cybertruck by boat due to fire safety concerns. So, Yianni switched to shipping the car by plane instead. But even after the car arrived in the UK, he faced more problems getting it ready for the road.
YouTuber Yianni Charalambous is facing challenges getting his Cybertruck to comply with UK road regulations.
One of the main issues is getting the car registered in the UK. Right now, the Cybertruck has an Albanian license plate, but it needs a UK one to be road-legal.
In addition, the car’s indicator lights are red, which isn’t allowed in the UK. UK law says that indicator lights must be amber so they’re easy to tell apart from the red brake lights. To meet the law, Yianni has to replace the red lights with amber ones.
Another issue is with the side mirrors. In the UK, cars must have indicator lights on their side mirrors. So, Yianni will need to add these to the Cybertruck. He also needs to install fog lights, as UK regulations require that fog lights only work when the headlights are on. This is another modification that Yianni will need to make.
But the problems don’t stop there. The Cybertruck’s sharp, angular design doesn’t meet European crash safety standards. The sharp edges on the front and back of the car could be dangerous in a crash, so Yianni will have to cover these edges with rubber to make the car safe enough to drive on UK roads.

All these changes are necessary for the Cybertruck to pass the Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) test, which is required for any car to be legally driven in the UK. Yianni has been documenting the process on his YouTube channel, giving fans an inside look at the work that needs to be done.
In one of his videos, Yianni spoke with a mechanic about the chances of the Cybertruck passing the IVA test. The mechanic explained that while it might take a week or two to finish all the modifications, it is possible to get the car ready. He also mentioned that the IVA test is not as strict as other car approvals, so with the proper adjustments, the Cybertruck should pass.
A mechanic mentioned that the vehicle might be ready to pass the IVA test by Christmas.

Yianni hopes to have the car ready by Christmas, but there’s still a lot of work to do. His followers are eager to see if he can overcome the remaining challenges and get the Cybertruck on the road.
It’s been a long and challenging journey, but Yianni’s determination to make it happen is precise. Keep watching Yiannimize for more updates on this exciting project.
