Deadbeat Dad And Grandparents Join Forces To Condemn His Ex-Wife For Not Financially Supporting His Affair Babies
“My dad is upset that my mom isn’t using her finances to take care of his other kids.”

When our narrator (Original Poster) was just a wee 3-week-old infant, his mom found out about his dad’s affair. And this wasn’t just any old affair, mind you—there was a baby on the way!
Things crumbled soon after as OP’s mom took a walk for good. As for the father? He went on quite the ‘gene-spreading’ spree and ended up fathering more kids than he could count on one hand, nine to be exact.
As it often does in such situations, chaos followed. Sole custody here, sporadic visits there, and a healthy dose of absentee parenting. Did I mention no two kids were from the same mother? OP’s dad certainly wasn’t winning any awards for father figure of the year.
However, of all the half-siblings, OP’s mom emerged as the only super mom. She gave OP a life of financial stability and comfort, no thanks to Dad. The same couldn’t be said about any of his half-siblings’ moms.
When OP’s dad caught wind of his ex-wife’s cozy cash stash set aside to fulfill OP’s college dreams, he couldn’t contain his envy. He always despised her for not spreading the ‘love’ (and wealth, obviously) to his chaotic offspring collection.
Strangely enough, OP’s grandparents were on his side. They believed it was OP’s mom’s responsibility to help their son out with his mess. They even went as far as blaming her for his baby-making escapades.
When they showed up on OP’s doorstep for a ‘showdown’ with his mom, he decided enough was enough. He told them point blank that if they had raised their son properly, he wouldn’t find himself drowning in kids he couldn’t afford to care for.
Naturally, they were furious. Was OP the a—hole here?
The story in detail

A bit of background

Thankfully, OP’s mom has been able to provide him with a good life due to her financial and emotional stability

For some odd reason, OP’s dad and grandparents have slammed his mom for not extending her finances to the other half-siblings. In fact, they accused OP’s mom of being at fault for the collapsed marriage, despite his dad being a serial cheater

After finding out that OP’s mom saved for him to go to college, his grandparents came over to deliver another round of insults to his mom

We gathered some interesting reactions from the Reddit community:

“Your dad is gross. I hope he gets/got the snip.”

“Your grandparents can start by looking in the mirror for someone to blame.”

“NTA. Your grandparents got off lightly with what you said to them. I would go NC with the whole lot.”

“Wow, your grandparents are just bonkers. Seriously their thought process in mind-blowing.”

“NTA. Your mother dodged a bullet, and managed to raise a decent son.“

“NTA. It is NOT your mother's responsibility to care for his multitude of children.“

For Redditors, it was a rock-solid NTA verdict. One user pointed out the irony of the grandparents blaming OP’s mom for their son’s wandering ways. They even called it the "worst delusion" ever seen on Reddit.
Another user wondered what stopped the grandparents from stepping in to help their other grandchildren. They are blood-relatives to the kids, after all. OP’s mom isn’t.
Kudos to OP’s mom for proving that living well truly is the best revenge. She’s got the community’s full support.
