Some family run psychiatrist practices around the United States have shifted their treatment plans to include Walt Disney World or Disneyland.
Interesting to say the least.
Especially considering,
The mission of The Walt Disney Company is to entertain, inform and inspire people around the globe through the power of unparalleled storytelling, reflecting the iconic brands, creative minds and innovative technologies that make ours the world's premier entertainment company.
I can absolutely see the motive behind this!
Essentially, studies have found that "humans exposed to environments encompassing the patient with positivity and experiences that are enriching have changed the outlook for the patients."
Dr. Sanders at Psychiatry Today has been prescribing week-long getaways to Disney Resorts as part of his treatment plans.
He says that your well-being can obviously and absolutely, be impacted positively with something as simple as a visit to the most magical place on Earth.
“My patients have the choice to take trips with their family to help promote positive changes in their behavior and develop lifetime memories in the meantime."
He goes on to explain,
"I usually suggest my patients purchase an annual pass to make sure that they are able to continue on their path to managing their emotions.”
What do you think about this psychiatrist and the studies surrounding this?
I happen to think it's a fabulous idea, and that experiences always outweigh material items. I wish society would focus more on that than they do the latter.
