Every year, countless animals find themselves in shelters, awaiting a new chance at a loving home. The journey from abandonment to adoption is often challenging, but there are stories of hope and resilience that shine through.

One such story is that of Stanford, a pit bull mix whose path to a new life exemplifies the power of compassion and dedication. Stanford’s troubles began when he was found abandoned at a local park.

His situation was dire, with no food or water, and he was left to fend for himself. Thankfully, a caring family discovered him and took him to the Rockdale County Animal Shelter.

Although this family’s intentions were good, their circumstances did not allow them to keep Stanford as their own. Despite their strong desire to provide him with a home, their rental property restrictions prevented them from adopting him.

At the shelter, Stanford showed clear signs of distress. He would lean against his kennel door and look longingly at the people who had shown him kindness.

The family’s visit left him with a mix of hope and heartache as they had to deliver the crushing news that they could not take him home. Stanford's disappointment was palpable, and his dream of a permanent family seemed to be slipping away.

However, this was not the end of Stanford's story. The Humans and Animals United (HAAU) organization took notice of his plight. Determined to make a difference, the HAAU team rallied to raise funds and find a temporary solution for Stanford. Their dedication paid off when they secured a foster home for him.

Stanford's departure from the shelter was a moment of joy. The excitement he displayed as he left his kennel for the last time contrasted with the sadness he had known.

His new foster home began a fresh chapter in his life. A thorough veterinary checkup ensured he was healthy and ready for this new phase.

In his foster home, Stanford began to thrive. He settled into a warm, comfortable bed and adapted to his new surroundings enthusiastically. His days were filled with comfort and affection, which he longed for.

Though Stanford's journey is not yet complete, and he continues to search for a forever family, his current situation represents a significant improvement from his days in the shelter.

We are a rescue that saves lives but with that, education comes into place to build a better world for these dogs. When you see a rescue posting a dog, that means they are working on that dog to save his or her life. Placing a hold doesn't guarantee the safety of that dog. What it means is that a rescue is working on saving that life and for that much is needed. A foster, pledges, plans for transports, medical care etc. As a rescue we will post the dog we have been asked to save last minute. We will post the dog on all social media sites as our main focus is finding a foster! As you know many dogs with other rescues are stuck in boarding and that's not what we want for our dogs. Many networkers will make their own posts to help save the pup. Everyone works diligently to save the dogs life. Do not assume a rescue hold means that a rescue is obligated to pick up the dog because they are not. Also, many things can go wrong before pick up as we all know. A dog is not safe until out of the building. There are some horrible people who will post over and over that the dog has a rescue hold to confuse everyone and stop foster offers from coming in. This is what happened in Stanford's case. So many dogs in need all over the world. We save the ones we can save with your help. Stanford is one of the lucky pups who with everyone's help found a foster. He will be sleeping in a home, in a warm bed for the 1st time very soon. I have a warm bed and toys with a blanket that kept me cuddly all night. I hid under the bed for a while. I was afraid I would be taken away from my new home. My foster mommy has reassured me that I am here until my forever home is found. I believe her! She is such a beautiful human. I will keep in touch!
