Redditor Fights Back By Unleashing Two Fierce Guard Dogs On Neighbor’s Trespassing Mutts
Living in a serene rural paradise away from the hustle and bustle of bright city lights may sound like a dream, but it wasn’t without its moments. For one Redditor, those ‘moments’ came in the form of wandering dogs.

Our narrator’s (Original Poster’s) remote slice of paradise consisted of acres of land as far as the eye could see. You’d think every occupant had more than enough to accommodate whatever hobbies or lifeforms they chose to keep. But for some reason, the neighbor’s canines always found their way into his land—and they never ceased to wreak havoc.
So far, they’d killed a few of OP’s chickens, a duck, and even a rabbit! The body count was piling up, and OP had frankly had more than they could handle.
Polite requests to contain the rampaging mutts fell on deaf ears. He even shifted the blame to OP for free-ranging their chickens—on their own property!
OP wasn’t the only victim. The mischievous mutts also went around gobbling up another neighbor’s cat food. And how did their owner respond? He blamed the cat lady for making his dogs fat.
Desperate calls to law enforcement yielded no result, but everything changed when OP inherited two Maremma dogs from a friend who relocated. They turned out to be stellar guardians of livestock and property boundaries.
Their territorial barks sent the trespassing mutts running with their tail between their legs, and before long, the pesky neighbor was the one making complaints. When OP’s neighbor sent them an unsolicited link to an article on how to “stop dogs from barking,” OP couldn’t control their laughter.
Now, every bark was pure music to their ears. You can’t tame the neighbor's dogs, but you sure as heck can tame the neighbor.
Let’s dig into the details
A bit of background
OP adopted her friends livestock guardian dogs and they’ve done an excellent job keeping her neighbors dogs off her property
OP is definitely happy with the results
We gathered some reactions from the Reddit community:
“I'd be horrified to know that my animals were being killed and their owner wouldn't even try to help.”
“In my rural hometown, folks would shoot wandering dogs who repeatedly harassed their livestock.”
This is an awesome read
Not everyone has OP’s patience
“Most rural areas you are allowed to shoot predators to protect your livestock.”
“Cat, dog, possum… if it’s a pest on your property you can get rid of it.”
“At least in my country you could take him to small claims court for the value of each livestock his dogs killed.”
In this tale of wagging tails and territorial tussles, OP reclaimed peace and protection for their cherished livestock in the most ironic way possible.
Lesson learned: when defending your turf, never let a human do a dog’s job—just leave it to the experts. Three cheers for the Maremmas, the restorers of peace in a once chaotic neighborhood!
