Dad Sparks Controversy For Not Including Estranged Daughter In His Inheritance
"So mother was right, this is what kind of person you are!"

As a parent, you ought to be aware of how to be active in your child's life! Although the majority of individuals believe that being involved comes easily, this isn't always the case.
Awkward circumstances, strained relationships, or simply being a first-time parent can make it difficult to strike a balance between being involved and becoming too involved. The OP of today's story wasn't even given a chance to be involved in his child's life.
It all started when the OP met a girl named "Angela" at a party years ago. They had fun, and then she ghosted the OP, as he did not hear from her.
After a year, the OP received an order to pay child support as it turned out he had a kid named "Marilyn." The OP never managed to actually meet her child, but for the next 16 years, he still sent her birthday cards, etc.
The OP had to stop after Marilyn sent him a hurtful text message, but he still paid child support. Fast forward to the present, and the OP is sharing his late mom's assets among his three kids.
Marilyn reached out to the OP via email, saying sorry that his mother died. She proceeded to say that she heard that the OP was giving all his kids an apartment, asking when she would receive hers.
Of course, she wasn't ready for the reply she got, and you can read all about it below.

A declaration that she didn't consider the OP as the father hurt him enough

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the AH:
- Am I the AH for not giving part of my inherited assets to my first daughter. 2. Some consider me an asshole for that, because even thought she was enver in my life, she is still my daughter.
The Reddit post got hundreds of comments and here are some of the most upvoted ones

They both are regretting the stance they took

This Redditor has a lot of questions

If the OP would ever end up in a retirement home...

The OP should talk to a lawyer

The OP said he did write her the truth

For Angela and Marilyn, the OP is just another way to make money. They desire a transactional relationship in which the OP pays them money whenever they feel like it and that's not what the OP ever wanted.
Family is more than just genetics and blood, and Redditors say that if the OP is feeling bad for keeping one of the homes, he can donate it to a worthy cause. The OP was declared not the AH and that's a wrap.
