Girlfriend Refuses To Share Sunscreen With Boyfriend Because It's "Personal," Leaving Him With Painful Sun Burns
One Reddit user, Ok_Combination_7812, took to the "AITA" subreddit to narrate a disagreement she had with her boyfriend at the beach.
In the post, she explains that she comes from a family of dermatologists and has been taught the importance of protecting the skin from sunburns and having a proper skincare routine. However, her boyfriend does not share the same level of concern for his skin and has never worn sunscreen before, despite her parents' efforts to convince him to do so.
On the day they went to the beach, when Ok_Combination_7812 began applying her own sunscreen, her boyfriend asked her to share some with him, but she refused. She explained that it would be pointless for him to take care of his skin just once and that her sunscreen was personal.
Her boyfriend became upset and refused to wear a hoodie to protect himself from sunburn, which resulted in him getting sunburns. Her boyfriend is still upset with her, calling her an "ahole" for not sharing her sunscreen.
Her dad also shares similar sentiments and says it wouldn't have cost her anything. However, her mom thinks it's a lesson for her boyfriend to learn.
Ok_Combination_7812 wants to know whether she's indeed the ahole in this incident. Here is how the AITA community reacted to her post.
Here's OP's story.

Her mother agrees, but what does Reddit think? Let's find out.

1. She injured her boyfriend to teach him a lesson.

2. It's insane to say sunscreen is personal.

3. She's not ready to be in a relationship.

4. She had the means to help someone she loves, but intentionally let him get hurt.

5. The one-time skin care would have been helpful.

6. It makes no sense that she's being selfish to someone she claims to love.

7. A boyfriend is someone she can share personal things with.

8. You can even share sunscreen with strangers.

9. Her dad is the only person viewing the incident rationally.

10. Sunburn increases the risk of cancer.

11. It doesn't seem like she likes him that much.

12. There's a likelihood that their relationship won't last.

13. Their relationship is filled with red flags.

14. If she can kiss her boyfriend, she should be able to share a sunscreen.

15. She refused to help her boyfriend the one time he tried to care for his skin.

16. As the daughter of dermatologists, she should know the risks associated with sunburn.

17. She and her mom should be ashamed of themselves.

18. Most people use sunscreen only when they want to prevent sunburn.

19. Sharing her sunscreen just this once could have prevented her boyfriend from getting burned.

20. Sharing a little sunscreen with her boyfriend wouldn't have hurt.

What do you think?
A sunscreen is an essential tool for protecting your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays. UV rays can cause sunburn, increasing the risk of skin cancer and leading to premature skin aging.
In addition to protecting against cancer, sunscreen can prevent age spots, wrinkles, and skin discoloration. It is important to note that sunscreen should be worn every day, not just when you're going to be outside for an extended period of time or when it's sunny.
Even when it's cloudy or you're spending most of your time indoors, UV rays can still penetrate through windows and cause damage to the skin. Therefore, applying sunscreen daily as part of your skincare routine should be a priority for everyone, regardless of skin type or tone.
