House sitting is when someone stays at your house for a certain period of time while you are away. They take over the responsibilities of the house and make sure everything is running smoothly.

The house sitter is permitted to live on the property while the owner is gone. Most people do it as a favor, but some also get paid for it like any normal job.

It's usually hard to find a house sitter since you can't entrust anyone with this task and allow them to be in your private space. Trust is a key component, and without it, it would not be possible.

A Redditor who goes by the username u/Equivalent_You_6114 made a post on the r/AmItheA**hole with the following title “AITA For not agreeing to housesit for my sister?” The OP explains in the post how her sister asked her to housesit for her and then tried to make her pay rent while she was there.

The fact that they all sided with OP's sister says a lot about what kind of people they are.

OP is definitely not the a-hole here. Her sister not only wants her to do her a favor and housesit, but she also wants to get paid for going on vacation on top of that. She even tried to make it seem like she was cool by giving her a discount.
