19-year-old Lila Moss recently stunned fans as she appeared on the 2022 Met Gala red carpet with her supermodel mother, Kate Moss. The rising star is a type 1 diabetic, and she wore her insulin pump proudly under her sheer Burberry dress.
Type 1 diabetes affects the pancreas and means that it doesn't produce enough insulin to regulate the amount of glucose in the blood. Wearing an insulin pump can be an effective way to manage the disease long-term.
Lila, who is an accomplished model in her own right, took to the red carpet wearing a monitor on her arm and the pump on her upper thigh. Clearly visible, the life-saving device was perhaps the most important fashion accessory of the evening.
Although more than 400,000 people in the UK live with type 1 diabetes, it is rare to see an insulin pump worn so openly. Especially on the red carpet.
Lila wore a sheer Burberry logo dress, while Kate sported a breathtaking black gown, also by Burberry. The mother-daughter duo looked stunning, and Lila's insulin pump didn't take anything away from her outfit - if anything, it only made it more captivating.

Lila recently told British Vogue what it was like growing up with an extremely famous mother. The teenager said she started noticing her mother's fame when she was around eight years old.
"That was when I realized the paparazzi thing, that they were interested in her, for some reason," Lila recalled. "Then I went to secondary school, and everyone was like, 'Oh, your mum's Kate Moss!'"
Lila laughed as she said her response would be, "'How do you know who she is? She's old! She's old and boring!'"
But all jokes aside, Lila says that she has always been "quite protective of her mom." She mentioned a paparazzi photo taken when she was a child where she seemed to be scowling. "All my mum's friends say that I was so scary as a child," she said. "I was quite serious, but also, I would always copy her."
"She would always have her head down and not look at the camera, so I'd always put my head down and not look at the camera," Lila explained. "I still do it."
