Simulation Reveals What Caused Man's Phone To Explode In His Pocket
A simulation has taken social media by storm, vividly depicting the terrifying moment when a man's phone exploded in his pocket, igniting new fears among users. This unsettling re-enactment sheds light on an incident that left a construction worker with life-altering injuries and raises questions about the safety of certain smartphone models.
Daniel Ramirez, a construction worker in Ohio, was going about his day when his Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, tucked away in his right front pocket, began to behave erratically.
According to reports, the phone started "whistling, screeching, and vibrating," and before Ramirez could react, he noticed smoke billowing from his pocket. What happened next was every phone owner's worst nightmare.
As Ramirez reached into his pocket to remove the device, it exploded, causing severe burns to his hand. The flames quickly spread, melting his pants and boxer shorts to his leg and leaving him with second and third-degree burns on his groin, legs, and lower back.
The injuries were so severe that they required extensive skin graft surgery and ongoing physical therapy.
The chilling simulation, now available on YouTube, offers a detailed visualization of what might have occurred during those horrifying moments. The video shows an animated figure with a phone in his pocket, followed by smoke and the man's frantic reaction as the device catches fire.
The realistic portrayal has struck a chord with viewers, many of whom have expressed newfound anxiety over the possibility of their phones overheating and exploding without warning.
One comment on the video encapsulated the widespread fear: "New fear unlocked: Your phone starts burning out of nowhere." Another user added, "Bro, the fact that my phone overheats like that sometimes and the character looks exactly like me scares the s**t out of me."

However, this explanation closely mirrors the one Samsung provided for the Galaxy Note 7, a different model that was also plagued by battery issues.
Following the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, Samsung issued a recall and allowed customers to exchange their faulty phones for a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge. But the incident with Ramirez's phone raised concerns that the battery issues extended beyond the Galaxy Note 7, leading to a Class Action lawsuit against Samsung.
The lawsuit claimed that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge also posed significant safety risks and demanded that the company address these concerns. The case was eventually closed, but it left a lingering sense of unease among users.
In response to the incident, a Samsung spokesperson assured USA Today that the battery issue was isolated to the Galaxy Note 7 and did not affect other models.
