Redditor's Wife Orders Four Sacks Of Birdseed Weighing 12.5kg Each Because She's Not Used To The Metric System
Planet Earth is home to 195 sovereign countries that are recognized by The United Nations. One of the things all these countries have in common - except for three of them - is the way they measure things.
The three countries that haven't officially adopted the metric system are the United States, Burma (Myanmar), and Liberia. However, the Deputy Minister for Commerce for Burma reported that the system will officially change in the future.
Modern terminology calls the metric system the International System of Units, yet Liberia, Burma, and the U.S still do not use it. The rest of the world has either adopted it or legally sanctioned it.
The metric system was first adopted in 1795 in France. Encyclopedia Britannica defines it as the “International decimal system of weights and measures, based on the meter for length and the kilogram for mass.”

OP and his wife have been enjoying watching the birds come and go to the bird feeder.

OP's wife is from a country that doesn't use the metric system and still getting used to it.

Even the delivery driver found OP's situation hilarious.

OP will never have to buy birdseed in his life ever again.

OP and his wife couldn't stop laughing about their situation.

OP added a TL;DR at the end for people who don't want to read the whole thing.

OP eventually modified the post to include an "Update".

Here's the picture that OP linked in the screenshot above.

Here's how the Reddit community reacted to u/EdgarTFriendly's post:

Some users shared tips on how to preserve bird seed that OP might find useful.

Rodents can quickly go through every single other material.

Rodents are smart when they are hungry.

OP can turn this "misfortune" into something useful.

This is the only bird scale that you should care about.

All the birds in OP's area will turn into this.

OP's wife got confused while doing her conversions.

You should never get your measurements wrong with such things.

The freedom units that the rest of the world doesn't use.

OP will have to use that currency from now on.

As long as she doesn't compare the scale to anything else.

This incident will teach Op's wife a lesson she will never forget. The birds will be forever grateful that OP's wife got confused that day.
OP should consider the suggestions of some users and use birdfeed in other scenarios that could benefit him and his wife. If you enjoyed reading this, make sure to check out similar content on our platform.
