Reaching an agreement on the ideal baby name might be difficult. There are times when the process of choosing a baby name might be difficult due to sentiments or experiences connected to a particular name or outright disagreements on the type or style of name.

It's true that choosing a name you genuinely adore can be hard, but it might be much more difficult to select a name that your spouse thinks is "the one." It frequently happens that you have one or two names that you firmly believe to be your favorites, only to have your partner quickly shoot them down, and vice versa.

The OP and her husband chose to get a blank sheet of paper and write down baby names that are their personal favorites. One of the female names OP's husband was very insistent on was "Sophie."

It was the name of his dead grandmother, who basically raised him since his parents were always busy with work. At once, the OP told him that she would not even consider it because the bully who tormented her throughout all of high school was also named Sophie.

OP's husband got angry since he really wanted to use the name of the person who meant so much to him, but the OP refused. Read the full story below to find out all that happened.

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the AH:

1) Refusing to consider to name our child "Sophie" 2) I wasn't considering naming our child a name that meant a lot to my husband

I don't know if anyone is still reading this, but sadly, grandmother Sophie does not have a middle name. Luckily, she had a really nice surname (that's also an actual female name). I've suggested that to my husband and he liked it. He apologised for insisting so much, but he told me that he has always wanted to name his child Sophie.

Writing down a list of names that both parties find appealing and would be willing to talk more about would save a great deal of time and effort. But there are times when one or both parents shoot down one or more names for different reasons.

The OP has a good reason for shooting down the down and her husband has a good reason for wanting the name. Still, the OP was declared not the AH and that's a wrap.
