These One-Picture Horror Stories Are So Scary That You Should Definitely Avoid Reading Them Before Bed

Kids being afraid of the dark is something universal that everyone goes through, that dark and sinister void manages to fictionally  create a whole world full of monsters, potentially lurking in the shadows, which compelled Irish illustrator Brian Coldrick to give entire scenarios to these creatures and cast them in his ongoing webcomic and book "Behind You: One-Shot Horror Stories."

The more you look at these haunting images, the scarier they get, which is oddly beautiful and haunting in its own way.  Coldrick's one-panel illustrations constantly show a monster hiding just in arms reach, accompanied by a couple of darkly humorous one-sentence captions.
