Managers and business owners who exploit their workers have always been around, and it’s nothing new. They are opportunists who take advantage of our need to pay the rent, bills and feed our families.
But there is a point when you simply have to say that enough is enough. And this is a story of a man who stood up.
He looked at the charging bull, and the bull blinked. His story is just one of many we can relate to.
The important thing is that he finally understood how valuable he was to the company. Unfortunately, many people don’t, and they take maltreatment and overworking silently. That is not okay.
OP shared his story hoping that it will inspire others to realize how valuable they are t their employers and start acting accordingly. If the managers don’t see it, make them see it!
Business owners should view their workers as an expense but a valuable resource and an investment. If they expect them to care about the company and help it thrive, they also have to give something in return.
Occasional pizza parties and bringing donut baskets to the workplace are just not enough. Things have to change. And they will if we read carefully and take notes...

We can almost imagine OP's employers posting job ads and bitching about how nobody wants to work and that it's impossible to find a good worker. And that's the type – they overwork their workers, neglect their demands, and then can't understand why they left.
So are they just pretending, or are they really so self-absorbed that it makes them oblivious to the world around them? We hope that OP has found a job he likes, one where he wouldn't be treated like a slave that should only work and keep his mouth shut.
Also, we hope he enjoyed his vacation with his kid and GF.
