One dog groomer posted on the forum asking to shed light on her dilemma. She started by saying that she is not a photographer by profession since she is a full-time dog groomer.
She only takes photos of her canine clients after their grooming appointment and posts them on her socials. She has a nice setup and her photographs turn out well.
They caught the attention of her friend who was about to get married. He asked her if she will be willing to be their official camera person during the wedding but she hesitated, saying that it's really not her forte.
The groom said that he didn't care whether the pictures come out perfect. They also had a tight budget for the wedding and they only offered to pay her $250 for the 10-hour event.
The groomer/photographer agreed seeing it as a favor to her friend. On the day of the wedding, her job started at 11 AM and she followed the bride around as she went from one appointment to the next.
She photographed the ceremony flawlessly and continued her job at the reception, taking pictures of people being merry and giving speeches. At around 5 PM, the guests were being served their food.
The photographer was told by the groom that she cannot stop to eat because she was the photographer. In fact, he said they didn't save her a seat because she's not technically a guest.
Coupled with her exhaustion, hunger, the heat (110F), and the next-to-nothing pay, the photographer was starting to regret agreeing to this. There was no open bar in sight and she was unbelievably thirsty.
She told the groom that she will take off for 20 minutes to find food and drinks.
The groom told her that she either needs to be a photographer or leave without getting paid. That was the last straw for the photographer.
Fed up with their antics, she deleted all of the pictures she took in front of the shameless groom. She left but not before telling him that she was officially not their photographer anymore.
The newlywed went on to their honeymoon and went MIA in their social media accounts. People are commenting, asking where the photos from the wedding are.
The photographer is feeling a bit of guilt and wonders if she was wrong for deleting the pictures and taking off. What do you think?

OP was basically starving the whole day
They treated her so badly AND they were low-balling her with the pay. There's no upside to this.
If you want good photos for your wedding, don't piss off the photographer
See how great the photos turn out when people are treated like humans and not commodities?
If someone's doing you a favor by giving you almost free labor, you better treat them right
OP would have had a better day with the dogs she photographs
The groom is the real a**hole in this story
This is what you get when you play stupid games
Ohh, the plot thickens. Does the wife know the real story?
Technically, OP just followed the grooms instructions
Drop the friendship, yes?
Bad people that's who
It's just common sense, right?
Apparently not and it happens so much, contractors put it in writing.
After all the attention the post got, the photographer decided to write an update about the issue.
The couple went incognito after the wedding and were holed up in a cottage with no update on their online profiles. The photographer noticed all the comments they got asking for wedding photos.
When they got back, the bride called the photographer and asked what was the real story. The groom wasn't truthful and told his new wife that their photographer friend had a problem with her camera and lost all the pictures.
The photographer told the wife plainly what happened and said that while she felt guilty, she didn't appreciate the way she was treated when she was, in fact, doing them a favor.
The wife asked if there was any way to reconcile. After some talking, the photographer agreed to a photoshoot of the newlyweds under the condition that she can back out any moment if they say something she doesn't like.
She even offered to go to a technician, which they will pay, to attempt to recover the deleted photographs. The wife declined this offer.

We've been blessed with a final update from the photographer:
The photographer managed to get the bride to tell the real story about what happened on her Facebook account. They initially told people the husband's version of events.
As for the photoshoot, she actually followed through. The couple wanted to do a winter shoot during late November but they asked the photographer to do it earlier.
She agreed because she had free time that day. She drove up to the vineyard and met with the dolled-up couple.
While OP was unloading her equipment, she laid out her plan for the photos. When it was time to carry out the sandbags, OP asked the husband to unload them for her which he declined saying it was OP's job as the photographer.
Finally, OP had enough and she began loading all of her things back into the car. She got into the vehicle despite the couple's protest.
Before driving away, she told them that when the both of them get married again to not please hire her as a photographer. OP blocked them immediately and has since distanced herself.
The photographer's final update can be read below:
As for the people messaging OP and commenting that she's not a real photographer, she had this to say
OP is a really good person just trying her best to upskill. She's helping animals get adopted by taking photos of them!
If OP's really doesn't want to deal with entitled bride and grooms again, she might be better off in a more rewarding field of photography
Imagine treating your friend this way? She's doing you a solid by taking time out of her busy schedule to take professional quality photos for you with little to no pay.
The audacity of some people to treat others like garbage is astounding. Then when their shi*ty behavior results in awful consequences, they get shocked as if they did nothing wrong.
Hopefully, the photographer is having a better time now that she's no longer friends with these people. She didn't lose anything, unlike the couple who lost all their wedding photos AND a good friend.
