Pixar's Short Film 'Bao' Explained To People Who Just Don't Get It
Many people have been expressing their confusion after seeing the Asian-focused short film 'Bao' which played before 'The Incredibles 2' in theatres. The film centred around an Asian-Canadian mother who ends up parenting her dumpling when it comes to life.
People's confusion arose when the mother has an argument with the dumpling when it tries to leave home, so she eats the dumpling. As viewers thought this dumpling represented a child, they were confused as to why the mother had eaten her 'child'.
The director of the short film, Domme Shi, cleared this up by stating that she was the overprotected 'dumpling' when she was younger and the movie presented how she felt coddled and smothered by her mother.
