Redditors Make Woman Reconsider Confronting Roommate Over Mutual Crush

"Frankly I have lost a deal of respect."

Redditors Make Woman Reconsider Confronting Roommate Over Mutual Crush

Everything changes the instant you stop having respect for someone. The situation in which you find yourself staring at someone you once believed you knew well, someone you once admired, or someone you once trusted, and you still find it hard to believe they have become the person they previously assured you they would never become.

You chuckle at the irony that on the day you confided in them about your anxieties, you were virtually positive they wouldn't come true. You were virtually convinced that you wouldn't ever run into that issue with them.

They were almost certainly not someone who could harm you in the same manner that others have. When you lose respect for someone, you realize that you cannot regain it because, at that point, your perception of them changes, and when that happens, everything around you, including you, changes because you no longer want that person in your life.

The original poster for today's story talks about how she started chatting with a friend more than usual and felt a vibe of mutual interest from it. When the OP returned home, she told her roommate about it and how she's interested in seeing where things go with the guy.

Later on, the OP told her roommate, rather casually but explicitly, that she's interested in pursuing a physical relationship with this guy. Guess what happens next? I won't spill, but you can read all about it below.

The OP reveals this in a comment...

We have gotten to the point where we'd consider each other friends. At least that is the case for me. And as fir the guy I am not pressed about it, I would prefer if they found people they are truly happy with. It is unfortunate that I will have to start withholding things, as she's been great to vent to. I've needed it a lot lately.

Some Redditors say that with a young woman like the OP's roommate, the best thing to do is play her cards close to your chest and not give her any information that she will turn into a game she can win. Also, the OP needs to recognize that men who can be so easily "won," even as a casual partner, are probably men she's better off avoiding anyway.
