A Redditor Got Unexpected Revenge On His Horrible Ex-Landlord And Screwed Him Over For $20K

Have you ever been stuck with a crappy landlord? That might be putting it mildly as a lot of people have dealt with cruel landlords that take advantage of their tenants to gain money.

They’ll do everything to squeeze a couple of bucks from them and they would ignore needs that are basically a landlord’s obligation. In turn, there are people who already plotting their fantasy revenge the moment they meet them.

In Reddit, the subreddit “ProRevenge” is the best place to post about fantasy revenge stories coming true. A Redditor recounted a story of how their landlord got screwed over years after he took advantage of him and his wife.

In the late 90’s, he and his wife were a newlywed young couple and decided to both have jobs to save up for a house. OP was an entry-level software developer when the dotcom bubble was on the rise and was offered a job that pays more in another city.

They did the calculations and if they would save his whole salary and survive only off of his wife’s pay, they could save up a 20% down payment for a house. So he took the job, they moved, and found an apartment. 

That’s how they met the landlord. And This is how Redditors reacted to his triumphant story.

OP and his wife decided to do a DINK to save up faster a.k.a double income no kids

An opportunity presented itself and it came at the right time for a couple who was starting out

The landlord was a strict guy with a dry personality and rented the apartments for $950

They were just passing renters to him

When Hank saw the combined income of OP and his wife, the landlord thoroughly had their interest now adding the fact that they’re young

At first, Hank’s interest in them didn’t seem like a big deal, albeit weird. He even agreed to their request after their lease ends

After they signed they only ever saw him annually and he would still mention his disbelief with OP’s salary

Fast forward to a year and OP and his wife were about to move houses but would need an extra two months. The landlord agreed on an extension and a month-to-month clause

It seemed fine until the bill came and it increased by $500

OP called the landlord and was furious with the increase but it fell on deaf ears.

As the couple didn’t have a choice, OP paid the overpriced rent

The landlord also made all kinds of excuses to increase the amount of money he could get out of them

After they moved out, OP saw how much the increase in rent was motivated by the landlord’s bad intentions. But it seems like his luck is starting to run out

Five years later OP’s life has changed a lot

He overheard his co-worker setting up a meeting with the landlord who screwed them over

OP was still unsure if his co-worker was talking about the same person so he asked him

OP started to describe the landlord and as they were speaking, in walks the devil himself

The landlord still hasn't recognized OP so he introduced himself

Hank hasn't put together the demise he brought onto OP and his wife

Then OP broke out his math skills

And things became awkward as the landlord left

Phil was pissed but decided to listen to OP

He went on to tell him his horrible experience 5 years ago

And Phil, being the good guy he is, decided to trash his deal with the landlord

They decided to give him a call after plotting their script

The landlord probably scrambled for the deal but Phil was set

Then they threw out this iconic line in reference to the landlord's parting words to OP

That's how the landlord's possible $20k went down the drain

There are a lot of horrible bosses stories that deserve to end in fantasy revenge stories

No matter how polite their approach is or whether they’re already threatening, the landlords don’t take them seriously

They would rather go out of the way to ignore the issue than put in the effort to address it

Not everyone can have an experience like OP where they could get their revenge even if they weren’t even planning one. Although it took a few years, it was still satisfying for him and satisfying to readers who got to know the story.

There’s still hope that there would be fewer landlords that would abuse the status of their tenants. And a decrease in fantasy revenge stories for them.
