Brian Austin Green Revealed The Reason He Texted His 'Beverly Hills, 90210' Co-Star Luke Perry The Day After His Death, And It's Heartbreaking

by Stephanie

When Luke Perry passed away in March 2019, the world was in shock. The actor was just 52 and had suffered a massive stroke.

It was inconceivable, and his friends and family were left devastated. Recently, fellow 'Beverly Hills, 90210' star Brian Austin Green opened up about the grief of losing his longtime friend.

Brian and his partner, Sharna Burgess, appeared on an episode of 'Getting Grilled with Curtis Stone,' where they discussed how difficult it was receiving the news of Luke's passing. "There was a part of me that couldn't really process that it was real," Brian recalled.

In a heartbreaking admission, the actor said he texted his friend the day after he died. "There was a part of me that was like, 'No, he’s gonna answer back. He’s hiding somewhere. Or something’s happened,'" Brian explained.

Brian and Luke co-starred on 'Beverly Hills, 90210' for 10 years and developed a close bond during that time. Their friendship continued long after the show ended.

Brian admitted that while he had prepared himself to an extent for the eventual loss of his beloved co-stars, he never imagined that Luke would be the first to go. "I honestly never expected that it would be Luke," he said.

"To me, in my mind, Luke was the strongest of everyone," Green recalled. "He was the constant guy. He was exactly who he was at all times."

Brian says he thinks of Luke often and will frequently remember the lessons he learned from his dear friend. "When things happen in my life, I’ll stop for a second, and I’ll think about him and what I learned from him," the actor said.

Luke's passing came just months before filming began on the 'Beverly Hills, 90210' reboot, 'BH90210.' Understandably, it was incredibly difficult for many of the actor's former co-stars to process.

Tori Spelling recalled a moment when Ian Ziering forgot that Luke was gone during their first promo shoot for the show. "Ian turned around and said, 'Where's Luke?,' and then I saw him catch himself, and he turned away," she said.

"I could see his heart breaking, and he started to cry," Tori continued. "We didn't feel complete, and we still don't."
