It is undeniable that being a stepdad or stepmom can sometimes be challenging. It can feel like an insurmountable challenge to learn to unconditionally accept another person's child as your own.

But first things first, the simple part is committing to your partner. Then, you can face the challenge of deciding to dedicate yourself to becoming the greatest stepparent you can be.

A family might suffer greatly from step-parents who have control difficulties, envy, animosity, or contempt for their spouse's biological children. Furthermore, it is vastly understated how traumatizing an emotional toll this will take on their stepchildren's self-esteem, acceptance in the family, and self-confidence.

For the OP and her sibling, her stepdad did everything he could to sabotage their relationship with their father. OP's dad would call, and if her stepfather answered the phone, he would hang up on their dad.

He went further to call the OP's dad to demand more child support, or he would legally adopt the OP, and her brother and their dad would never see them again. It got to the point where the OP had to devise a means to make her stepdad confess in front of her mom.

He got sent out, but guess what? He attacked the OP the next day while she was walking to the bus for school, but luckily, she got saved, and her stepfather got arrested.

Maybe a couple of ineffective blows on his arms. When I first revealed his actions to my mom, I had a switchblade in the pocket of my sweatshirt, and was prepared to use it. But, since she jumped in the way when he came at me, we'll never know what I might have done.
