Individuals who live in democratic nations highly pride themselves on having privileges and freedoms similar to speech freedom, freedom of religion, the right to privacy, or the right to education. Furthermore, a vast majority of them reserve the option to do what they want with their own bodies.
Tragically, it must be said that this incorporates the overwhelming majority of them, but not all, because, in some of them, a choice like having or not having a child is made by the government and not the person giving birth to the child. Beginning in September of 2021, all pregnancy terminations that happen after a month and a half of being pregnant become illegal.
This is the most prohibitive abortion law in the country. Furthermore, it clashes with the High Court, which prohibits states from making abortion illegal when the fetus is somewhere in the range of 22–24 weeks old.
Texas Senate Bill 8, which is otherwise called the Heartbeat Act, considers an abortion made after 6 weeks, which is when the baby has a heartbeat, illegal. An unborn child begins to have a detectable heartbeat around the 6-week point, and this is when most women are unaware that they are pregnant.
Furthermore, private individuals may sue any woman who had an abortion, as well as any abortion specialist, or anyone else involved in the cycle, and receive a monetary award of up to $10k.
