Frustrated Girlfriend Refused To Send Money To Her Unemployed Boyfriend When He Got Stuck In Thailand
It is considered immature to tell another adult, "I told you so," when they make a mistake you saw from a mile away. Warnings can only go so far when they are so obviously determined to ignore any advice given to them.
At a certain age, you won't expect another adult to go on a trip they can't afford. The concept is simple — if you don't have a job, you won't have enough money to go on a nearly month-long vacation.
A concept apparently lost on a Redditor's 34-year-old boyfriend. OP and her boyfriend are immigrants who live in Sweden.
She immigrated first for a job and managed to secure employment for him. Unfortunately, he soon got fired for unprofessional behavior.
OP said it wasn't a big deal; he just swore a lot at work and generally behaved like a child. He has been unemployed since and hasn't bothered to look for a new job.
When OP got home from work one day, her boyfriend surprised her with the news that he booked a flight to Thailand. His vacation will last for three weeks, and the flight will be the following day.
He was shocked when OP wasn't elated by his news. They were messaging throughout the day, and not once did he mention anything about a trip.
All of this happened in March 2020, right around when COVID-19 was starting to spread.

OP clarified that her boyfriend used his own money to fund his trip. He was aware before he left that OP will not help him financially if he ever got stuck in Thailand which is exactly what happened.

He knew there was a highly contractable disease when he booked his trip. OP warned him not to go before he left and even during his trip, yet he plowed ahead.
Would OP really be a terrible person if she told him to go ask the embassy for help? Unfortunately, we have no idea how she handled the situation because her account was suspended, and no further updates popped up.
