When you allow people to avoid the consequences of their actions and get away with things, they automatically think that you are fair game and an easy target. Agreeing to do favors for people out of the kindness of your heart might be perceived as a weakness people will try to take advantage of.

Their demands don't have to make sense because they see you as someone who makes their life easier and problems disappear. It's quite hard to get rid of such people because they will keep harassing and insisting on the off chance that you might end up saying yes.

A Redditor who goes by the username u/Plenty-Brief-5942 made a post on the r/AmItheA**hole subReddit where he explained how his ex kept harassing him to take on the role of her new children's father. The user had a child with his ex years ago and even adopted her other kid after noticing her neglect.

u/Plenty-Brief-5942 ended up telling his ex's kids that he's not their father, and his ex's reaction made him feel like an a-hole. Scroll down to check out the full Reddit post, and scroll a little further to read the comments from the original post.

OP managed to save one kid's life from a terrible fate, but he can't keep taking in this woman's children every time she decides to have another one. The ex wants to trick Op into paying for her children's expenses and could come up with even more responsibilities in the future.

OP should get a restraining order against her and focus on living his life with his children. If you enjoyed reading this, make sure to check out similar content on our platform.
