30 Lessons From School That People Think Are Completely Useless In Life
People on Reddit share the most useless things they were taught in school that had them going "What Was The Point?"

We’ve all struggled in school at some point. And we won’t deny that there have been plenty of moments that we have branded something as “useless” just because we found it hard or not of our interest.
A lot of the time, as our childish minds began to mature and as we got to discover more of what life has to offer, we were proven wrong with that assumption. Other times though, we were proven just too entirely right.
See, school is supposed to teach us most of the things we should know, like a foundation almost, for us to be able to create good lives for ourselves and for us to be able to contribute to society and hopefully make the world a better place, right? However, that’s not always the case.
In fact, there are some lessons that simply wasted hours and hours of our valuable student time. Some are even better to be unlearned.
When Reddit user u/highnrgy asked the wonderful people on Reddit what was the most useless thing they teach in school, they delivered with over 17 700 responses. Down below, you’ll find some of the best ones, and let us tell you, it’s difficult not to find them absolutely relatable.
1. It was basically just free period with a bit of sweating here and there

2. So useless indeed

3. This is how you scare kids away from books that might actually do them good in the future

4. They leave us to sometimes wonder what honest hard work really gets

5. That's why a lot of people don't really learn. They just memorize answers.

6. Ignore and forget really isn't the motto of the real world honey

7. If they talked to us about history like how they talked about gossip with their friends, we'd probably learn from it and appreciate it a lot more

8. They set us up for the "OT Thank You" culture

9. Maybe they didn't want anyone coming from their school to suck at dancing

10. They might have crossed off the word 'education' while working on that

11. Time better spent actually learning helpful stuff

12. They probably didn't want us to have an easy school life

13. Yes, we won't because who in the world would carry a calculator in their pocket when you have so much else to carry?

14. We just honestly care if the food tastes good to us or not

15. They probably just do it to make themselves look cultured

16. Seriously, just go and take a piss without making much of a scene and you're good

17. Some people don't even know the difference between Asia and the US

18. Useless and a lie

19. As if Shakespeare is the only great playwright in history

20. The supposed lesson isn't always taught upfront unfortunately

21. Sure, learning budget is nice and all but why a wedding of all things?

22. Giving numbers to the unpleasant behavior won't really fix it

23. That is actually a pretty cool skill to have but still

24. He was forcing his bird love on you which is not teaching at all

25. Isn't that a bit of brainwashing right there?

26. This is how you cultivate ignorance

27. Does that make up for the fact that most of those students would have probably forgotten what it means?

28. Why do they allow these kinds of teachings?

29. Nobody cares if it's five paragraphs or one as long as you get your point across well and clear

30. Maybe they weren't familiar with the words "obsolete" or "modern"

We're grateful for the things we learned in school that has definitely helped us out a lot in order not to look and feel like total idiots in our adult lives but if we're being honest, there are probably so many hours we've wasted on lessons we never really needed at all. Do you have any lessons you wish you didn’t even touch at all?
