Artist Portrayed Grief And Loss By Illustrating A Story About A Wood Carver That Preserved Memories He Made Of His Loved One
Art is another way to communicate feelings that seem bigger than words.

Grief is a complicated emotion that is hard to overcome. It is something that is dealt with in different ways by people who've experienced it.
There's no one way of dealing with grief. There's no single right way of coping with a loss and mending what you think broke inside of you for it.
Sometimes it can lead to bad decisions but there's hope that it'll lead to beautiful outputs. Tom Booth is an illustrator and an author.
With early roots in making his mark in the world through words and art, Tom developed a story about loss. The story doesn't contain dialogue but every emotion is felt raw by viewers who interpret the drawings in their own relationship with loss.
There's a woodcarver who worked on trying to cope with missing his loved one by carving different memories on wood. They were scenarios and experiences that he remembers and they could've been the most mundane thing like his loved one sitting or standing, yet they held a great impact on his life.
The loss of something bigger like hope is portrayed as well. The sequence of illustrations had a lot of effort put in them to get the story across as Booth is someone who appreciates stories told through thoughtful designs.
The story depicts starts off by depicting who the woodcarver misses

And how much his memories are overwhelmingly presented in his action

He reminisced through his carvings

He takes his carvings like the memories that follow him

The overwhelming grief tugs at his heart most of the time

So he continues to preserve his memories through his carvings

The details show the contrast of his works' emotions and his

Nothing could wash away his sadness, not even rain

He tries to find comfort in what he makes

It passes time while he remembers

Everyday actions then seems like precious moments now

You can never control what the world takes away

As long as he is alive, his loved one would be alive in the sense of memories

For now, memories are another thing that haunts him other than what he feels

What started out as a small project in between deadlines blew up to be one of the most touching stories by an artist. Tom booth tried his hand at different ways to sketch and bring the characters to life.
There are simple sketches and 3D models of the woodcarver. Animation also went to play with how he wanted to tell the story of the couple.
He shared it with followers of his art and explained where he was coming from and what study he was doing while he manipulated his illustration. Although a bit different than his usual stories, Booth communicated this story well.
This animation is another background to what life was when the carver had his loved one by his side
Hope might be the best and hardest thing for someone who's suffering from grief needs. One doesn't always know the extent of what it can do to us.
Tom portrayed the sad memories but gave way to reminiscing the good ones too. The audience was so touched that he shared interpretations of other artists using his work and continued to thank them.
