Cat Named Dennis Quaid Was In Need Of Forever Home So Dennis Quaid Himself Adopted Him
Approximately 1.6 million cats living in shelters are adopted every year. That number may sound impressive but the truth is, there's always more cats in dire need of the purr-fect forever home.
There's no better time to adopt a cat than now, especially if you happen to live alone. Having to spend most of the time indoors due to the COVID-19 pandemic can drive anyone insane, even if you're a celebrity.
The best way to fill that gap is with a kitty friend, not only are you going to gain a new friend and family member, but you're also going to bless a desperate cat with a forever home.
Actor Dennis Quaid was recently looking to adopt a new pet and by a strange coincidence, he landed on a cat named in his likeness. What better match between cat and man than a pair that share a name?
Last week, Virginia news station, 10 News aired a segment about an initiative called Clear the Shelters.
A cat at the Lynchburg Humane Society was introduced to viewers in the segment. This cat was in need of a forever home, but there's one special thing about him, his name is Dennis Quaid.
Yep, he's named after the A-list actor who is known for The Day After Tomorrow, The Big Easy, and The Parent Trap.
Once the actual Dennis Quaid saw this segment, he decided to give him a forever home.
“It was really off the wall, but I just couldn’t resist. I had to,” Quaid told the 10 News team in a Zoom call. “I’m out to save all the Dennis Quaids of the world.”
The adoption of Dennis Quaid the cat coincides with the release of Quaid’s new podcasts dedicated to pets, The Pet Show. He is the executive producer of the podcast.
Next week, Jimmy Jellinek, his partner in the podcast, will fly all the way from Los Angeles to finally pick up Quaid’s new furry friend.
It was initially hard to convince the Lynchburg Humane Society staff that the actual Dennis Quaid was contacting them, they were definitely not expecting that. Jellinek explained how it all went down in a video segment on 10 News.
Quaid liked the idea of naming pets after celebrities and even recommended it since it will encourage more people to adopt furry friends named in their likeness.
