Entitled Parents Ruin Friendship In Just One Day, Complaining About The Trip They Invited Themselves On
Some people adore regularly complaining about something, love to be at the center of attention, and don't know how to compromise. Therefore, it is difficult for them to maintain friendships with people who hold different perspectives and manners.
A Reddit user shared a story about how entitled parents managed to ruin a solid friendship in just one day. The OP had a conversation with their mother about a family they hadn't seen since the OP was around ten years old.
The mother revealed why they stopped being friends with that family, recounting an incident from the past. When the OP was 10 and her brother was 8, their parents planned a vacation to Yellowstone.
Upon hearing about this, the other family, who had children of similar ages, invited themselves on their trip. Despite reservations, the OP's parents agreed because they attended bible study at this family's home every Sunday.
The OP's mother had warned this family about the simple accommodations they had booked. However, issues began even before they reached their destination.
The other family delayed the trip by hours, showing up much later than they had agreed. Upon arrival at Yellowstone, this entitled family expressed dissatisfaction with the accommodations, even though they had been forewarned.
They mentioned they had friends in the main part of Yellowstone and decided to visit them, promising the OP's family they'd be back for dinner. The OP's parents prepared dinner for everyone, but the entitled family didn't come.
Late at night, the other family finally showed up, only to complain about the cabins and the travel plans, blaming the OP's family for the perceived inconveniences. They also informed the OP's parents they'd be staying with their other friends for the rest of the trip.
The OP's parents reminded them they were never officially invited and were aware of everything before the trip. They also criticized them for being inconsiderate about the dinner.
Following this altercation, the families parted ways and never interacted again.
Here is the story:

The OP asked her mother about a family they hadn't seen since the OP was about ten years old:

Her mother told her they invited themselves on their vacation and ruined the friendship:

The OP's parents had warned them about the simple accommodation, but they agreed:

They arranged to go in the morning, but the other family was 3 hours late:

When they finally arrived at the destination, the entitled family started complaining:

They went to visit their friends and missed the agreed dinner that the OP's parents made for all of them:

After returning in the middle of the night, they informed the OP's parents they'd be staying with other friends:

They told the OP's parents that everything was awful and blamed them for that:

Their behavior was so inappropriate

The OP added

The OP's mother thought they were hypocrites

The OP's parents had to pay for the other family's cabin

Lesson learned

They should have left when the entitled family didn't show up at the agreed time without explanation

The OP's parents learned their lesson the hard way. Even though they were eager to maintain a friendship with the entitled family, apparently, their feelings weren't the same.
At least the vacation showed them what toxic people their friends were and ended their friendship. Also, they learned not to book other people's accommodation.
