Weirdly Funny News Headlines To Distract From All The Bad News In The World

by Rachel

It kind of goes without saying these days that there is bad news everywhere. Seriously, can anyone remember the last time they opened a news app, turned on the television, or scrolled past a news article and it wasn’t about something that was depressing or soul crushing, or just plain bad?

It really makes you wonder if there is any good news out there at all. Like, surely there are good things happening in this world, things that are happy and positive and reflect some of the joy that must exist in this world.

This article is a little different than all that. It is a compilation of some of the funniest headlines that we have seen—but they are not all good news, they are just badly worded stories.

So, if you write headlines here are some tips that you might need to avoid creating confusion or an embarrassing-titled story: hire a proof reader (or several) and read it out loud, trying multiple inflections,  and making sure that there aren’t any double meanings floating around. Other headlines though, come from an unfortunately bad story, where the only thing to do is lean into the hilarity.

Check out these hilarious headlines to give you a little chuckle and a break from all the bad news.

Some of these headlines are just plain bad, right? With some of these stories, there is just no way to report on it in a way that doesn’t make it sound utterly ridiculous.

You can believe in the power of journalism to change the word and hold the people in power to account all you want (and you should), but there is no denying that some of the things that pass as news could do with a little further workshopping. This also extends to making sure the headlines are enticing, factual, and not ridden with innuendo.
