Some might say that self-deprecating humor is an art form and personally, I'd agree. You have to tiptoe a fine line when making fun of yourself and take quite a few things into consideration.
When sharing self-deprecating humor with the Internet you want to be cautious not to lie, but exaggerating doesn't hurt. You also want to make sure that people are laughing at and with you, as opposed to feeling sorry for you or feeling pity for you.
