Lizzo, 37, posted a video of herself on Instagram dancing poolside in a pink and gray string bikini. With a black face covering on and her track playing in the background, she moved confidently in front of the camera. She captioned the video with a bold lyric from the song: “BLACK TRUCK A-- POKING OUT THA WINDOW.”
It’s not the first time this summer she’s brought the energy. Just a couple of weeks earlier, she posted another clip in a bright yellow and blue bikini, lip-syncing and dancing in high heels to mark Memorial Day. She looked like she was having fun, and that’s been a consistent theme in her posts lately.
But there’s more behind the bikini snaps than meets the eye. Lizzo has been quietly, steadily working on her health over the past couple of years, sharing bits and pieces of that journey along the way. And while people often frame this kind of change as being all about looks or size, Lizzo has made it clear that her focus is on something else entirely.

“I’ve been methodical,” she said. “I’m losing weight very slowly.” There was no big crash diet or dramatic transformation. Just consistent effort, over time.
She also shared that her thinking around body image has shifted. What once felt like a push for constant body positivity has settled into something more grounded: body neutrality.
“I’m not going to lie and say I love my body every day,” she admitted. “The bottom line is, the way you feel about your body changes every single day. There are some days I adore my body, and others when I don’t feel completely positive.”

Lizzo was seen out and about in New York City on May 12, 2025.
In January 2025, she shared two mirror selfies with stats overlaid from a fitness app showing she had hit her weight goal.
“I did it,” she wrote. “Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal. I haven’t seen this number since 2014!” She also added, “Time for new goals!” according to the caption.
The images revealed she had reduced her BMI by 10.5 points and lost 16% of her body fat. But even in those moments of achievement, she’s been intentional about the language she uses. On the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast in April, she explained why she doesn’t like to say “weight loss.”
“My man, he’s so funny,” she said, talking about her boyfriend Myke Wright. “He was the one that brought it to my attention at first. Because at first I was like, 'Oh my gosh, I lost five pounds,' and he was like, 'Where did it go?'"
That got her thinking. “It’s like, I don’t think I want to lose anything. I think I want to win. I think I want to gain,” she said.
The change in wording may seem small, but it represents a significant shift in perspective, one that sees health and fitness as a source of empowerment rather than a form of punishment.
