It seems like it's happening in Temple, Texas where there was a huge walkout organized by the students of the Temple High School. The reason for the walkout was the fact that one of the students there was banned from the girls' locker room because the student was transgender.
All of this happened to Kendall Tinoco, a 16-year-old Temple High School student. In a post on Instagram, she revealed that one of her teachers wouldn't let her into the girls' locker room because it's for "actual girls".
When this first happened she just let it slide thinking that the teacher was transphobic, but she couldn't look past it when it happened again with the same teacher who wanted her to change in a closet with a male dancer.
Kendall didn't get much help from the school's administration about this issue which left her outraged so she shared her story with the entire world. The other students of Temple High School were angry as well, and they organized a peaceful protest to support Kendall.

As is always the case when it comes to gender identity discussions, people have wildly different opinions. Regardless of your opinion on gender identity, I think we can all agree that this isn't the right way to treat a 16-year-old or any other person for that matter.
A solution must be found and that's society's responsibility.
