Critics Slam Brad Pitt And George Clooney's $200M Film As 'Unbearable'

by Damjan

In the ever-evolving world of cinema, big budgets and star-studded casts don’t always guarantee success. This reality is being tested with the upcoming release of Wolfs, a film boasting a staggering budget and high-profile actors but has recently faced negative criticism.

Scheduled to debut on AppleTV+ on September 20, Wolfs represents one of the most expensive projects ever created for a streaming platform, with a budget of $200 million (£150 million).

Directed by Jon Watts, known for his work on the Spider-Man series within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the film reunites Brad Pitt and George Clooney, who have previously collaborated on the Ocean's film series.

In "Wolfs," the two actors play professional fixers who find themselves in a chaotic situation when they are hired to address the same high-profile crime. Their different approaches and personalities lead to a series of unexpected complications.

Despite the impressive financial backing and the star power of Pitt and Clooney, early reviews have been less than flattering. Critics have described the film as an "unbearable" watch and likened it to a "slick student film from a rich teen," a critique that points to its perceived lack of depth and originality.

The Guardian’s Xan Brooks has compared the film to a meme featuring two Spider-Men pointing at each other, suggesting that it feels redundant and uninspired. Similarly, Barry Levitt from the Daily Beast has criticized the film as tedious, likening the experience to a never-ending, monotonous journey.

The negative feedback is particularly striking given the film's substantial investment and the anticipation surrounding its release. The production’s attempt to deliver a high-octane, star-driven experience has not resonated with critics, raising concerns about its potential performance upon release.

Amal Clooney, George Clooney, Ines de Ramon, and Brad Pitt graced the red carpet at the "Wolfs" premiere during the 81st Venice International Film Festival.

In addition to the film’s controversy, Brad Pitt has been making headlines for his personal life. Recently, he confirmed his relationship with Ines de Ramon, a jewelry designer, during a public appearance at the Venice Film Festival.

The couple, along with George Clooney and his wife Amal, made a notable appearance on the red carpet. Pitt and de Ramon showcased their relationship with a coordinated look, adding another layer of interest to their public profile.

As "Wolfs" approaches its premiere, it's uncertain if it will overcome the critical reviews and attract viewers. Despite its large budget and impressive cast, early feedback suggests it might not live up to the hype.

Big budgets and star-studded casts don’t always ensure a film's success or a favorable reception, but this team is hoping for a shift in reviews that could change public perception.
