Nobody Is Surprised That This Plan To Give A Dog Money To Stop Barking Backfired, But We're All Laughing Anyway
Some dogs bark for attention, some bark out of boredom, and then there is Dipper, an Australian Shepherd puppy with enough personality to negotiate his own terms. His family learned quickly that this clever little guy was not always interested in following the plan, especially when bedtime got in the way of his fun.
Dipper lives in Ontario, Canada, where he is training to become an Autism Service Dog for his dad. That makes his stubborn streak a little funnier, since the same pup who is learning to help with sensory overload and social stress also managed to turn a barking fit into a money grab.
One $5 bribe later, his parents were laughing, and Dipper was acting like he had just discovered a brand-new life hack.
Darling Dipper.

Dipper lives in Ontario, Canada, where he is training to become an Autism Service Dog. Autism Support Dogs can do a lot to support their human companions, especially children, including decreasing anxiety during medical and dental visits, exams, and procedures; reducing anxiety in crowded public areas like schools, grocery stores, and even malls; and some are also trained to gently interrupt self-harming behaviors and de-escalate meltdowns.
Dipper came to live with his family when he was 9 weeks old.

The pup quickly became a source of entertainment in addition to being a loving family member.

For every bit as rambunctious as the pup has been (naturally), he's also been the fluffiest sweetheart, too.

Dipper's training as an Autism Support Dog is for his daddy! After his training, he will be "able to help with sensory overload and social stresses."

As tends to be the case with intelligent, hyperactive puppies, not everything has been totally smooth sailing.

In fact, one night in particular, Dipper was feeling a little extra rowdy and unwilling to settle down for bed.

Dipper's parents were ready for bed, though, and he needed to let them know he was not on board with the evening's plans.

So, Dipper did what dogs do, and he began relentlessly barking! “He was barking because we were starting to wind down for the night, and he decided he had different plans,” Fenn said.
And if you’re thinking “just train it,” remember the hyperactive German Shepherd advice spiral, where people were stuck with no trainer and no treats: Netizens offered ideas for training a hyperactive German Shepherd.
Dipper's dad thought he had a good idea to ease Dipper's barking... he offered him $5. However, his plan shortly backfired.
“We realized Dipper didn’t want to give the money back about 10 seconds in,” Fenn said. “Dipper had stopped barking, so my boyfriend tried to take it back, and Dipper was slowly moving his head back in his finders-keepers way.”
Dipper must have realized he had something valuable, or maybe he recognized he was working with a fantastic routine, because his parents could not stop laughing!
“We managed to trick him shortly after the video ended,” Fenn said. “We didn’t want him to start eating his newfound wealth.”

It would seem that we just haven't advanced human-dog communication to the point where paying a dog to stop barking is a win-win situation, but we're sure Dipper has nothing but a bright future ahead of him anyway.

While the idea of offering a puppy $5 to stop barking might seem far-fetched, one cannot deny that Dipper's exuberant personality is a delightful source of entertainment. This Australian Shepherd certainly embodies the breed's spirited nature, captivating audiences with his antics. The joy that pets like Dipper bring into our lives is often underestimated, as they provide not just companionship but a unique charm that brightens our days.
