Cat-Enthusiast Wants To Know If Planting 400 Catnip Seeds Will Attract The Neighborhood Felines To Play On The Yard
Reddit has a popular sub called r/NoSt*pidQuestions where redditors can ask any questions and other users will answer without subjecting the OP (original poster) to any judgment.

In short, you can ask whatever question pops into your head and the wise people of Reddit will do their best to answer you seriously. Or you can just Google the question but where's the fun in that?
That's how Reddit user Zardmaster ended up in the sub. Our OP wanted to know if she will attract the cats around the neighborhood if OP planted a ridiculous amount of catnip.
A regular person would just search Google and hundreds of thousands of resources will pop up. But OP wanted the insight of fellow cat people to answer her question and Reddit is the best place for that.
Most people know that cats go crazy for nip. If you haven't seen a cat playing with catnip, you should go on your favorite video-sharing platform and watch, it's seriously entertaining!
Catnips are a member of the mint family and they have similar-looking leaves to the staple kitchen herb. They produce purple, lavender-like flowers and cats are coo-coo for catnip.
If you love cats or have a cat of your own, take buying a pot of catnip into consideration and watch your cat fall in love with the plant. Don't forget to share the video!

After reading the post, the most pressing question is: what's the reason behind OP's catnip inspired landscaping?
The simple answer is love and chaos
Is OP trying to attract all the cats to start a war with her neighbors?
But maybe OP just really love cats (as well as noise and chaos) that much
Catnip is widely known as "drugs" for cats.
Let's get to the science behind it. Cats love catnip simply because it feels great for them. They have an extra scent organ at the roof of their mouth that allows the scent to be carried to their brain.
The catnip takes effect as soon as the cat smells it. The oil present in catnips mimics feline sex hormones hence the instant behavioral change in cats.
If it affects the cat positively, they display affectionate and playful behavior. Though in some cats, it can make them aggressive.
OP wants to get the cats hooked on catnip and then subject them to rehab (all in jest)
Finally, an anecdotal story and catnips do make cats behave crazy
This is how commas save lives but in all fairness, cats did probably do this
And this kids is how I met your Uncle Nippers...
... nippers was named in honor of the herb
But this name takes the cake
The real trick to catnip is to, apparently, rub them on rough surfaces to release the juices
OP is writing down these tips
Spay and neuter your catnip-loving pets!
"Kitty aphrodisiac"
This person who won't obviously be a part of the kitty fight club because...
... the first rule is:
Reddit will rally behind any worthy cause!
The catnip garden is becoming a full-fledged operation
A catnip garden is equivalent to Woodstock
Which OP thinks is a grand idea!
OP is spurred on and encouraged by all the love fellow redditors have shown her catnip garden
OP will become the god of cats, around the neighborhood at least
Maybe this isn't such a bad idea
Cost vs returns and OP believes it's worth it
We wonder, did OP count the catnip seeds one by one?
In another unrelated sub, OP was asked for an update
Sadly (for OP and the cats), the catnip garden didn't bloom
Knowing Reddit, they would have loved to see OP's catnip garden full of frolicking cats. But sadly, OP's plan didn't pan out.
Maybe OP should have gone to the gardening subreddit to ask about the proper way and season to plant catnips. We're sure OP is not the last brave soul to attempt this catnip paradise for cats.
We'll be waiting for any updates from OP or another brave redditor. Maybe you could try it and share the results with us? What do you think?
