Animal Shelter Posts Adoption Ad On Facebook Only For Their Handsome Employee To Get More Attention Than The Pup
When The Humane Society posted a Facebook photo to promote Sky, a handsome Husky available for adoption, the shelter probably expected the dog to get most of the attention. Instead, employee Zackry Majewski ended up stealing the spotlight, and the comments quickly turned into a running joke about adopting him instead.
The post was meant to celebrate Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, while also highlighting a pet who needed a home. But once people saw Zac in the picture, the focus shifted fast, and the shelter’s adoption ad took on a life of its own.
Sky still got the happy ending, and Zac’s unexpected internet fame made the whole thing even more memorable.
The group had posted several photos to showcase their incredible animal care officers, and this particular day it was Zac's turn.
This is the kind of long-awaited happy ending like when the shelter’s 633-day resident finally got adopted.
"He has a great compassion for the animals in our care," the group wrote on Facebook.
"He is especially fond of Huskies and can always be found snuggling with a puppy in the shelter. In his free time, Zac enjoys hiking and listening to country music."
Majewski began working at the shelter last October. He has two roles: kennel technician and animal control officer.
"For about five weeks, he’s in the kennels helping to clean, feed, water, and take the dogs out, play with them, and care for the animals inside the shelter," Bacon said. "And then for another five weeks, he’s out in the community, patrolling for any stray animals and responding to calls regarding any cruelty cases we may have received."

Zac even has a full arm tattoo devoted to the love he has for dogs.
Zac's long-term dream is to become a Texas game warden. He has been passionate about caring for animals his whole life.
Zac's dashing good looks have brought a lot of traffic to the shelter's site since the photo was posted. Most importantly, Sky was adopted!
"Honestly, we did not expect it," Bacon said. "When I first saw the post in the morning, it had received around 500 comments, and I brought him into the office and said, ‘I just wanted to let you know this is blowing up a little bit.’"
"And the next thing I know, it’s going into the thousands," she said. "He thought it was pretty funny."
"He’s the most humble guy," Bacon continued. "He said, ‘I’m just glad that the dogs are getting attention.’"
Zac's hope is that all the attention can help all the shelter dogs find their forever homes. And for all you ladies wondering - yes, he is single!
