Perfectly Camouflaged Giant Spider Was Accidentally Spotted By A Woman On Her Lunch Break
Kelsey Panda was on her lunch break when a strange feeling made her stop and look twice at a nearby tree. What she found was a spider so perfectly hidden in the bark and lichen that it almost disappeared into the trunk.
As Panda leaned in, she noticed movement and spotted the tiny creature clinging to the tree. It turned out to be a Lichen Huntsman spider, and its camouflage was so effective that even a close look made it hard to pick out.
The sight was unexpected, a little eerie, and oddly beautiful all at once. The spider’s disguise is the kind of thing you only notice when it is already staring back at you.
It was a wonderful surprise for Panda to find a companion for lunch.
She said, “I’ve lived in Cairns, Queensland, most of my life and haven't seen a spider quite like it before. But I suppose we can see why.”
She took some pictures of the spider to capture the moment.

And if you thought lunch-break sightings were tame, Bray’s solo hike turned terrifying when a massive puma appeared.

Huntsman spiders are known for their ability to hunt their prey without spinning a web. They feed on all sorts of insects.
For this very reason, they are extremely helpful in eradicating pests from a garden.
