Cat Owner Finds Perfect Excuse To Skip Husband's Family Vacation, Risks Disappointing Her Mom
It's said that too much of everything is not good and yes, even a good time out can become boring. As strange as it may seem, this things does happen.
If you put too much effort into having the greatest family vacation possible, you run the risk of having too much fun and becoming worn out. This also holds true for your kids.
You know that moment when you're overtired, hungry, or stressed out, it no longer feels like a fun vacation. But then, a family vacation wouldn't be complete if the memories weren't documented.
In actuality, once your trip is finished, you will enjoy going back and reliving those enjoyable times. You will therefore find it beneficial to fully commit to documenting your joyful occasions.
The best part is that you are making sure there is no space for boredom when you take the time to record your memorable memories! The only time you are bored is when you have nothing interesting to do and this is where the OP found herself.
OP says there is a lot of downtime whenever she goes on a vacation where half the group is out fishing, but she doesn't fish and there's no internet. OP also added that it's too cold to swim for most of the day, and she's left struggling to find something she wants to do all day.
This makes her bored, but now she has found the perfect excuse not to go.
The OP writes

The vacation happens every year and some people commit to not going at the beginning of the year

The OP thinks that it was the novelty she was actually looking forward to

It feels like all these vacations are becoming less and less memorable

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the AH:
Would I be the AH to not going on a vacation last minute simply because I don't feel like it? My mother might get really upset that I changed my mind because she might have cancelled if I did but she prepares so long for a vacation that she might feel like it was all a waste to not go.
And the comments from other Redditors roll in...

The OP has been to the same place

OP's mom might get upset

Money isn't the issue

The OP won't feel roped into it next time

The OP shouldn't feel bad about it

Seeing if the mom wants to help

Why wouldn't the OP discuss it with her husband?

OP says that it's an island camp and you pay once you get there. The money is for the cost of the cook, the food, and just adding to the camp coffers.
Her husband's dad and uncles are members there, and the OP believes his uncle is even the camp treasurer but she not going means that she's robbing them of one paying guest. Still, the OP was declared not the AH and that's a wrap!
