Woman Ditched Two Boxes In Man's Yard, He Found 40 Eyes Begging Him To Save Them
We wake up every morning not knowing what the day holds. Intrinsically, plans and expectations for the day ahead are already thought out, but something unplanned can always arise.
Recently, something unbelievable happened to a man in St. Louis, Missouri. It was a peaceful Monday morning when a homeowner noticed a car slowly approaching his property.
However, what followed was something he could never have anticipated. As Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL) later shared on Facebook, the man saw a woman exit the vehicle, recklessly dump two large plastic boxes in his yard, and drive away without a word.
The man was curiosity piqued and rushed to check the mysterious boxes. But what he found left him speechless.
Both boxes had small air holes punched into their lids, and as he cautiously opened them, he was greeted by the sight of many wide-eyed kittens crowded inside. The scene was heartbreaking.
Each container was filled with kittens of various ages, all huddled together and attempting to run out. With no sign of the woman who abandoned them, the man immediately loaded the boxes into his car and headed for SRSL, a local animal rescue organization.
When he arrived, he explained the situation to the staff, but even they were taken aback by the sheer number of felines inside. Upon opening the first bin, they discovered eight 6-week-old kittens, all ready for independent feeding.
The second tote held a surprise; it was an entire family, including two adult cats and ten tiny newborn kittens still nursing. SRSL quickly realized the kittens’ varying needs, some were old enough to be weaned, while others required specialized care due to their young age.
Faced with already crowded kennels, the rescue center wasted no time. They put out an urgent call for foster families through their Facebook page, hoping for help.
Remarkably, within a day, every kitten and cat had found a foster home, demonstrating the power of community in times of crisis.

The second box, however, housed an entire family of two adult cats and ten tiny, nursing kittens
The "Fried Green Tomato family," cats from the second box, was taken to a warm foster home where the young kittens could nurse undisturbed. Meanwhile, the "Sailor" family, the kittens from the first tote, were placed in ideal foster homes in small groups of two and four.

"They're all doing great and adjusting to their temporary home. We have several people interested in adopting [them] already," said Light.

“Haylard and Scupper are super sweet and cuddly! They always snuggle up to each other.
They sleep with us every night and love to purr,” said Quinn McLendon, their foster mom.

Scupper and Halyard are currently living in their foster home alongside two dogs and five other cats, two of which are former residents of SRSL. While McLendon has grown attached to the kittens, she knows they would thrive better in a home with fewer pets.
Fortunately, her friends stepped in to help find them permanent homes. “My best friend, Autumn, saw my post about Halyard and immediately applied.
She got approved! And my other friends, Shannon and Timothy, applied for Scupper,” McLendon shared.
The kittens will soon be moving to their forever homes but will still be able to see their foster mom frequently. After a rough start, kittens will get the happy ending they deserve.
“I’m thrilled for their next steps!” McLendon said.
